Founding Team, Full-Stack Lead Engineer
Join humhum as our founding team lead, full-stack engineer to build and scale our vision. We are shifting the dating paradigm from one that is transactional and outcome-obsessed, to one that centers mental-wellness, personal growth, and community.
We're looking for a hands on creator, and technical thought leader for our company. This person will be responsible for building and iterating on our app against a roadmap, architectural thought partnership and decision making, scoping, hiring and managing other engineers (and possibly managing contractors). They would be the technical thought partner and solution-creator alongside the CEO with a possible path to CTO.
About humhum
Modern dating is broken—the confusion, loneliness, not enough-ness, frustration, and burnout that comes with swiping, hoping, ghosting, repeat correlates with depression and anxiety in app users. Swipe-based apps are built for discovery, not for a meaningful dating experience or connection. People are desperate for real connection, but we lack the spaces online and in-person, and the tools like mindfulness, intentional communication and more needed to find it, and navigate the vulnerability that comes with it. humhum is setting the standard in online dating for the post-pandemic zeitgeist: authentic connection and mental wellness. humhum creates opportunities for people to connect and teaches how we can relate to each other mindfully through our guided, group and 1-1 relational experiences and coaching online. We're soon launching our **subscription-based app** to streamline our customer's experience with the humhum brand, and scale our guided date offerings. We have hosted and tested hundreds of virtual date experiences with our MVP, already have had 1500+ people pay us for an offering, are generating revenue, and have 7K community members. We’re woman + LGBTQIA+ founded.

You know when to own, when to delegate, and when to team-up. You are a holistic, systems-based thinker, and are comfortable building across platforms to deliver a cohesive experience of our brand.

Fundamental
8+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer
Expertise in systems architecture and database design
Experience managing an engineering team
ReactJS, NodeJS [Web Apps]
PostgresDB /MongoDB [Databases]
AWS
Can clearly articulate high-level technical decisions and tradeoffs with leadership
Preferred
Prior experience as a startup founder/co-founder, or early technical hire at an early-stage startup
3+ years experience building mobile apps (progressive web apps, app builders such as Ionic, React Native, iOS native, etc.)
